hospital. Overview The Vascular Access Registered Nurse (VA-RN)
provides services to inpatients and outpatients who require
specialized assistance for placement and/or maintenance of vascular
access devices. Based on individualized assessment of vascular
access needs, the VA-RN selects the appropriate device and
insertion site. The VA-RN serves as a resource for patients,
families, and staff for maintenance of vascular access devices; in
order to decrease risk of complications, including blood stream
infections. The VA-RN identifies and meets the educational needs of
patients, families, and staff. At Children's Mercy, we are

concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious
exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.
Responsibilities Provides vascular access services to inpatients

infections Identifies and meets the educational needs of patients,
families, and staff. Qualifications Associate's Degree Direct care
nurses without a BSN hired on or after September 1, 2013 are
required to enroll in an academic program promptly in order to
complete their BSN degree requirements within 5 years of their hire
date. and 2-3 years of experience as an RN (preferably in a
hospital or nursing home setting). Insertion of PICC/midline
vascular access devices; Use of ultrasound guidance; CVC
management; CLABSI prevention; basic data collection preferred.
Bachelor's Degree Required and 2-3 years of experience as an RN

One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse
Multistate License Kansas required upon hire One of the following:
Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri
required upon hire Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider
Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support
Certifications Required Upon Hire Specialty Certification relevant
to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director

pay range for this job begins at $31.42/hr, but your offer will be
determined based on your education and experience. Remote Work/Work
from Home This position is not eligible to work remotely, which
means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one
of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home. EEO
